PDF to Word Converter Online
Turn a PDF into a .docx you can actually edit. Paragraphs stay as paragraphs, tables come through as real Word tables, and images are embedded where they belong — so you can click into the text and type, not fight a page of frames.
- Editable, not just a picture of the page Real paragraphs and real Word tables, so text reflows when you edit it.
- Layout and images preserved Headings, spacing, column structure and embedded pictures carry over.
- Converted on our servers, then deleted Nothing is retained after your download — no copies, no training data.

Convert to Word
Output is a .docx you can open in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
What comes across
- • Paragraphs as editable, reflowing text.
- • Tables as real Word tables, not images.
- • Embedded images in position.
- • Fonts and sizes matched as closely as the PDF allows.
Where it struggles
- • Heavy multi-column magazine layouts may reflow oddly.
- • Rotated text and complex vector art can shift.
- • Scanned pages have no text to recover — run OCR first.
Conversion usually takes a few seconds. Longer documents take proportionally longer.

Why the output is actually editable
Most free converters run your PDF through an office suite that recreates the page as a stack of absolutely-positioned text boxes. It looks correct until you try to edit it: text will not reflow, a table is not a table, and adding a sentence pushes nothing out of the way.
We reconstruct the document instead. Paragraphs become real Word paragraphs, detected tables become real Word tables with rows and cells you can tab through, and images are embedded rather than flattened into the page. That is the difference between a file you can read and a file you can work in.
About page limits and layout fidelity
Conversion runs while you wait rather than queueing in the background, which is what keeps the limits explicit: 10 pages per file on the free plan and 30 on a paid plan. Longer documents are best handled by splitting them first with Split PDF and converting the parts. Structure is inferred from layout, so accuracy tracks how conventionally the PDF was built: single-column business documents come across cleanly, while dense multi-column design work, sidebars and heavily styled tables may need tidying in Word afterwards. A scanned PDF has no text to read at all and needs OCR first.
Frequently asked questions
- Will online PDF to Word conversion keep the original formatting?
- Usually close, but not identical. Online PDF to Word conversion must infer paragraphs, tables and styles because a PDF stores glyph positions rather than document structure. Business documents often convert cleanly; dense multi-column layouts can need tidying.
- Can I convert a scanned PDF?
- Not directly — a scan is an image, so there is no text to move into Word. Run it through our OCR tool first to add a text layer, then convert the result. We check for this and tell you rather than returning a Word file full of pictures.
- How many pages can I convert?
- Up to 10 pages per file on the free plan, and up to 30 on a paid plan. The upper limit exists because conversion runs while you wait; for anything longer, split the PDF with our Split tool and convert the parts.
- What happens to my file?
- It is uploaded, converted and deleted. We do not keep a copy, do not index the contents and do not use your documents to train anything.
- Do I need Microsoft Word?
- No. The .docx opens in Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, Apple Pages and WPS Office as well as Word itself.
