About PDFDW
PDFDW didn't start as a grand vision to disrupt the PDF industry. It started out of necessity.
The original version of this tool was built to solve a very specific, frustrating problem: fixing formatting issues in Arabic administrative documents. Working with RTL (right-to-left) text in legacy PDF editors often resulted in broken ligatures, reversed sentences, or corrupted text layers. We needed a reliable way to edit and redact sensitive government documents without the text breaking.
A Shift to Privacy-First
As we built out the core engine to handle complex text replacements and OCR, we realized another glaring issue with existing online PDF tools: privacy. Most free tools require you to upload your sensitive documents—tax returns, medical records, contracts—to their servers.
We decided to flip the model. We engineered our basic tools (like rotate, delete, merge, and split) to run entirely in your web browser using JavaScript PDF libraries. When you use these tools, your file literally never leaves your device.
For advanced tools that need real computing power — OCR, conversion, text replacement — a server is unavoidable. So we made that path ephemeral: your file is processed and then deleted immediately, with no archive kept and nothing used for training or advertising. One tool, the interactive text editor, has to hold your file briefly between detecting text and applying your edits; that copy is access-controlled and deleted as soon as the edit is applied. We would rather describe that precisely than round it off to a slogan.
Built for Everyday Use
Today, PDFDW is a comprehensive suite of PDF tools designed to be fast, reliable, and respectful of your data. We offer a generous free tier for casual users, and a straightforward credit-based subscription for professionals who need heavy-duty server processing.
Whether you're merging a few receipts or running OCR on a 50-page scanned Arabic contract, we're glad you're here.
How we keep it free
The browser-based tools cost us nothing to run, which is why they have no account, no credit and no catch. Server-side work does cost money, so it is funded by subscriptions and by advertising. Ads only load if you accept them, and your documents are never used to target them — the details are in our Privacy Policy.
